Today’s Spotlight: Insight: Android’s Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop is almost here

According to the announcement made by Google via its Pixel Community forum, its Quick Share compatibility with AirDrop update to its 2024 Pixel series will start unveiling. The update is coming for the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and the 9 Pro Fold respectively. It’s sad to know that users of Pixel 9a won’t be part of this update, as revealed by Google’s disclaimer.

The update won’t come to users at once as it will be in phases. Google further explains that the update will be in a way that users of the Pixel 9 series will be able to share their files with an iPhone, iPad, or a macOS device easily. If this happens, it will be very convenient for you and your friends with Apple products to share content over Bluetooth. Privacy and speed remain a priority, as Google has already implemented multi-layered protections to safeguard whatever you want to share.

The announcement by Google about Quick Share teaming up with AirDrop came at the end of November, 2025. According to reports, the compatibility was first for the Pixel 10 series, making it easy for users to swap content between iPhones and other iOS devices. Google added that users needed to enable acceptance from “Everyone for 10 minutes” to be able to start sharing.

Earlier this month of February, Google confirmed that Quick Share and AirDrop’s compatibility would arrive on more devices. These include those from Samsung and Nothing.
